Kimchi Fried Rice Recipe
Equipment
- Chopping board
- Chef's knife
- Wok or large frying pan
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups cooked and cooled rice (ideally from the day before)
- ½ cup mature kimchi
- 2 tbsp. kimchi brine
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tsp. grated ginger
- 1 green onion
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp. gochujang or miso paste (for a milder version)
- 1 tbsp. toasted sesame oil
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- Seaweed flakes (optional)
Steps
Prepare the Ingredients
- Chop the green onion.
- Grate the garlic and ginger.
- Chop the kimchi coarsely, if necessary.
- Mix the gochujang or miso with water.
Prepare the Fried Rice
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok over high heat.
- Sauté the garlic and ginger for a few seconds.
- Add the kimchi and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Stir in the rice, soy sauce, gochujang (or miso) and kimchi brine.
- Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from the heat, add the sesame oil and mix.
Serve the Fried Rice
- Divide the fried rice between bowls.
- Sprinkle with green onions, sesame seeds, and seaweed flakes (optional).
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
